History

In 2006, Karlovac University of Applied Sciences gathered professionals in the field of occupational safety and health in conjunction with professional and scientific conference Occupational Safety and Health co-organised by the Croatian Institute for Health Protection and Safety at Work, Croatian Ergonomics Society and Boise State University - Center for Health Policy - Boise, Idaho (USA). 

1^st International Professional and Scientific Conference Occupational Safety and Health was held during 27-29 September 2006 in the premises of the Croatian Olympic Center (HOC) Bjelolasica. At this Conference, scientists and professionals from Croatia, USA, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia presented 69 papers. A total of 120 people participated, including the presenters, union representatives, companies and sponsors.

2^nd International Professional and Scientific Conference Occupational Safety and Health was held during 24-27 September 2008 also in the premises of the Croatian Olympic Center (HOC) Bjelolasica. At this Conference, 87 papers were presented and a total 168 authors/co-authors from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Czech Republic, Croatia, Italy, USA, Slovenia and Serbia participated in the Conference activities. Two round tables were held in conjunction with the Conference:

• Stress at Workplace

• Mobbing at Workplace

Professionals of various professions attended the Conference, including company union representatives, renowned university professors, state officials, non-profitable organisations and other.

3^rd International Professional and Scientific Conference Occupational Safety and Health was held during 22-25 September 2010 in Resort Borik-Zadar Hotel. A total of 102 papers were presented there, and 169 authors/co-authors from Croatia, Argentina, USA, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Slovakia, Columbia and Italy participated in the Conference activities. Around 220 people attended the Conference, including the representatives of commerce and unions as well as occupational medicine specialists. Two round tables took place:

• Risk Assessment

• Supervision in Occupational Medicine Surgery

4^th International Professional and Scientific Conference Occupational Safety and Health was held during 19-22 September 2012 in Resort Borik-Zadar Hotel. A total of 126 papers were presented there and 240 authors/co-authors from Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Serbia, Slovenia, Portugal and Italy participated. Two round tables took place in conjunction with the Conference:

• Discussion on the proposal to the Occupational Safety Act

• HIV/AIDS prevention with migrant workers and members

Around 240 participated in the Conference activities as well as representatives of commerce and unions as well as occupational medicine specialists.

5^th International Professional and Scientific Conference Occupational Safety and Health was held during 17-20 September 2014 in Resort Borik-Zadar Hotel. A total of 132 papers were presented and 250 authors/co-authors from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Serbia, Italy, USA participated. The round table Stress at Workplace was also held in conjunction with the Conference. Around 240 people (authors/co-authors, occupational medicine representatives, commerce representatives and union representatives) participated in the Conference activities.

6^th International Professional and Scientific Conference Occupational Safety and Health was held during 21-24 September 2016 in Resort Borik-Zadar Hotel. A total of 147 papers were presented and 250 authors and co-authors from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Serbia, Italy and USA participated. Two round tables were held:

• Medical certificate – problems in practice

• Mediation as effective solution to disputes related to occupational safety

Around 240 participants attended the Conference (authors/co-authors, occupational medicine representatives, commerce representatives and union representatives).

7th International Professional and Scientific Conference Occupational Safety and Health

was held during 12-15 September 2018 in Borik-Zadar Hotel. A total of 132 papers were presented and 244 authors and co-authors from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Serbia and Argentina participated. During the conference the following Round Table was held:

• Sick leave and working ability – mutual problem of family practitioners, Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO), Institute of expert evaluation, professional rehabilitation and Employment of People with Disabilities (ZOSI). Occupational medicine specialists, employers, etc.

Around 156 participants attended the Conference (authors/co-authors, occupational medicine representatives, commerce representatives and union representatives).
